The Load Board Isn't the Advantage

One of the biggest misconceptions about Landstar is the load board.

People hear there are tens of thousands of loads and assume that automatically means unlimited opportunity. That is not really how it works.

Access to freight is not the same thing as understanding freight.

Big numbers can fool you

A new operator can open the board and immediately start chasing big numbers. Experienced operators usually slow down and start asking different questions.

A load paying $10,000 can still create a bad week. A smaller load that keeps you positioned correctly can sometimes outperform the flashy one.

Gross is not the whole story

That is the part a lot of newer drivers miss. They focus on gross. Experienced operators focus on efficiency.

Another thing people misunderstand is that the best freight is not always just sitting on the board waiting. Relationships matter. Experience matters. Timing matters.

A driver who understands the system well sees opportunities differently. That is why two operators can run the same board and get completely different results.

The board itself is just a tool. The advantage comes from knowing how to think.
